Liverpool want and expect Mo Salah to stay at Anfield and are planning on the basis of him being part of their squad for next season., The Athletic has reported Monday.
The Egyptian (31) is heading into the final 12 months of his contract amid reports that he wants to leave - speculation increased by an apprent sideline spat with manager Jurgen Klopp at West Ham on Satrday.
But The Athletic's David Ornstein reports that Salah has given no indication of wanting to exit, and it is accepted he will remain at Anfield.
Salah has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia but the view now in the Saudi Pro League (SPL) is that they may go after Salah in 2025 when he will be 33 and there would be no transfer fee.
The West Ham episode, after which Salah declined to speak to media on the the basis 'there would be a fire' if he did, coupled with his poor form in recent weeks, has left many questioning whether the 31-year-old will still be a Liverpool player come the start of next season. The putative new boss Arne Slot has that and a couple of other contract issues to mull over if he takes over from the departing Klopp this summer - Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexader-Arnold's contracts also expire in a year's time.
