Nashville SC has rejected a bid in the region of $7 million from a Qatari club for forward Hany Mukhtar, sources briefed on the deal told The Athletic. The sources were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the bid publicly.
Transfermarkt’s Manuel Veth and Qatari-based outlet Al Kass initially reported that Nashville received a bid for Mukhtar.

Nashville has no intention to transfer the reigning 2022 MLS MVP and current 2023 Golden Boot leader, though the sources said Mukhtar is seeking a new contract from the MLS side. His current deal was announced in April of last season and runs through 2025.
A potential move to Qatar would be lucrative for the player, who was the 17th-highest-paid player in MLS with a guaranteed compensation of $3.19 million before the summer transfer window, per the MLS Players Association.
Mukhtar, 28, has been among the league’s best players since joining Nashville ahead of their 2020 expansion season. In the last two-and-a-half seasons, Mukhtar has 52 goals and 24 assists in 88 regular-season matches. He has been named to MLS Best XI each of the last two years and is on pace to challenge for the MVP again this year, with 13 goals and seven assists in 24 matches.
Off the field, Mukhtar is happy in Nashville. He held his wedding at the club’s home stadium, Geodis Park, and has started a youth academy in the area.
The former German youth international was acquired from Danish club Brondby for a fee of around $3 million. Mukhtar has also featured for Hertha, RB Salzburg and Benfica in his career.
