After their sold-out headline show at Aintree Racecourse last summer, Nile Rodgers & CHIC returned to Merseyside on Friday, August 11 with an incredible pop-filled performance at Haydock Park Racecourse. The racecourse hosted an evening of six races with the night coming to a close with an incredible performance from the legendary musician and his band.
As soon as the group took to the stage, it was clear that their intention was to get the crowd of racegoers dancing. "Are you ready to party with us?," Nile Rodgers asks before shouting "disco time" to the delighted crowd.

From the get-go, racegoers were treated to some of CHIC’s iconic back catalogue with ‘Le Freak’ and ‘Everybody Dance’ starting the night off. The crowd sang and danced along as the group continued through CHIC's 1970s hits, with 'Dance, Dance, Dance' and 'I Want Your Love' following on from their opening songs.
Having written, produced and performed some of the world’s most recognisable pop hits, it was no surprise that the show featured a fraction of Nile Rodgers’ legendary song credits. From Diana Ross’ ‘I’m Coming Out’ to Madonna's 'Like a Virgin,' the crowd was taken on a trip down memory lane that could only leave you in awe at the musician's musical talent.
Nile Rodgers was joined by CHIC's current line-up; Bernard Edwards, Tony Thompson, Norma Jean Wright and Luci Martin. Norma and Luci stole the show with their incredibly impressive vocal performances.
