TS Galaxy got back to winning ways in the DStv Premiership this week, as the Rockets recorded a clinical 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Following a run of five matches without a win, goals from Kamogelo Sebelebele and Samir Nurkovic saw Galaxy bag maximum points for the first time in the league since the 20th of August.
With the referee commencing affairs at the Mbombela Stadium, Sekhukhune United saw most of the ball during the opening exchanges of the encounter. Maloisane Mokhele came close to giving Babina Noko the lead in the 6th minute, with his left-footed shot from outside the box going narrowly wide.
Babina Noko continued to pile on the pressure after creating their first goal scoring opportunity, with Mokhele proving to be a threat to the Galaxy backline.
However, it was Galaxy who broke the deadlock in the 12th minute as Kamogelo Sebelebele got his name on the scoresheet with a left-footed strike from outside the box.
The Rockets actively searched for a second goal and continued to grow in confidence as the tie progressed. Mlungusi Mbunjana and MacBeth Mahlangu came close with headed efforts after the 20th minute mark, while Sphiwe Mahlangu hit the bar with a right-footed effort inside the 18-yard-area.
Despite being behind on the scoreboard, Sekhukhune looked assured in possession as they attempted to get back into the tie. The visitors saw more of the ball as the half came to a close but failed to make the most of their goal scoring opportunities.
Much like that of the first-half, Babina Noko got the second 45 off on a positive note with the likes of Elias Mokwana and Chibuike Ohizu winning free-kicks in favourable positions inside the Galaxy half.
