Pep Guardiola gives Erling Haaland injury update before Chelsea clash amid Arsenal title race

Pep Guardiola has given an update on the fitness of Manchester City striker Erling Haaland after he was withdrawn halfway through his side's victory against Bournemouth on Saturday. The Norway international has been a huge success for City since joining them from Borussia Dortmund.

Over 50 goals in all competitions from the striker last season helped the Manchester club secure a historic treble-winning campaign where they won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup. The new season has started with some decent form once again, scoring 11 goals in 11 Premier League matches.

It has fuelled the beginning of another title challenge for City, despite already having two defeats to their name in the opening few games. In a routine win over Bournemouth on Saturday, there were some concerns for Haaland and his fitness following an incident on the brink of half-time.

The 23-year-old was substituted in the 6-1 romping of the Cherries, later revealed to be a slight twist to his ankle that was a potential risk. It comes at a key time for City in their title race with Arsenal, given the fact they recently lost to them and are looking to begin another run of form.

It also appeared just before Guardiola will have his side face off with Chelsea in what is gearing up to be yet another huge clash for the Blues. The absence of Haaland could come as a boost to Mauricio Pochettino, given the troubles most teams have in keeping him quiet.

City boss Guardiola has given an update on the fitness of his star man, believing he could be fit enough come next
