In the build-up to his PSG team’s semi-final second leg, Luis Enrique had been stressing the importance of his strikeforce – in particular, Kylian Mbappé – being set up by their teammates in favourable positions. After a passive performance in Germany, the hosts looked to take control of proceedings early on at the Parc des Princes. While Luis Enrique’s men managed a few forays into the opposition box over the course of the first half, there was little sign of the Mats Hummels-led defence being overly troubled.

The clearest chances would fall to Dortmund on those breakaways, with Adeyemi denied by a reflex stop from Donnarumma after a lung-bursting run up the pitch.
