William Faulkner was on the scoresheet for table-topping Dundela during their victory over Newington
Dundela may be three points clear at the top of the Playr-Fit Championship with a game in hand, but manager Stephen Gourley isn’t concerned about the League table.
On Saturday, the Duns beat Newington 4-2 after Wilgar Park survived a late pitch inspection. Glentoran loanee Jordan Jenkins scored a double in between Charlie Dornan and William Faulkner strikes to make it five wins in a row for the east Belfast outfit.
Gourley said: “The guys in the dressing room have set the standards themselves.
“They’ve been working hard together since the start of pre-season and they’re getting the rewards for that. They’re hard on themselves and they challenge themselves to do better. I’m only here to guide them.”
Third-placed Institute beat second-placed Portadown 1-0 at the Brandywell thanks to a first-half goal from Evan Tweed, while Ballyclare fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Annagh United. Stephen Murray and Ruairi McDonald scored for the visitors in the first half before deadly strike duo Darius Roohi and Calvin McCurry found the net in the second period.
Bangor and H&W Welders remain locked together in mid-table after a 1-1 draw at Clandeboye Park saw Matthew Ferguson and Adam Neale exchange first-half goals.
In a must-win game for Matthew Tipton, Ards beat Dergview 3-0 at Darragh Park with impressive strikes from Aidan Steele, Eamon Scannell and Callum Dougan.
Knockbreda’s long wait for a first point goes on thanks to Aaron Harkin’s stoppage-time winner for Ballinamallard United, who were managed by Tommy Canning for the first time on Saturday. Breda’s Guillaume Keke opened the scoring before Ryan Morris levelled.
