Mauricio Pochettino claimed that 'David Beckham is shaking' after Raheem Sterling scored a stunning free-kick against Preston.
The England international stepped up and whipped a fierce effort into the top corner of the FA Cup tie on Saturday night to help ensure the Blues' 4-0 victory at home.
It was Sterling's second free-kick of the season, after already scoring a similar effort in their 4-1 Premier League defeat to Newcastle back in November.
It's clear that the 29-year-old's efforts have not gone unnoticed, particularly with boss Pochettino who was quick to praise the forward's progress.
Speaking after the game, according to talkSPORT, Mauricio Pochettino said: 'I told him when we finished the game "David Beckham is shaking" because he will take the record from David.
'That is the quality, you can practice all day, every day but after is to take and score.
'To be honest, we practice but it's not special practice for him. That's about his quality.'
Sterling's only other career free-kick came during a clash against Crystal Palace during his Man City days back in January 2021.
According to Premier League statistics, Beckham scored 18 free-kicks during his top-flight career - the most in the league's history.
Since making the move from Manchester to London during the 2022 summer, it's fair to say that the winger has stepped up his performances.
In the Premier League this season, he's managed to score five and assist three as he thrives in Chelsea's struggling side and has looked bright throughout the campaign.
The Blues were, however, able to put their recent troubles behind them as they cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Championship side.
