Szoboszlai’s displays have earned early comparisons to Steven Gerrard, complete with inheriting the number eight shirt. However, the Hungary international has insisted that he will be forging his own path, rather than seeking to emulate Gerrard.
“I've seen these articles, obviously it's flattering to be compared to one of the club's legends, but as I've said before, I don't want to be Steven Gerrard,” Szoboszlai told Hungarian outlet Sportal. “I will never be like him, we have two different life paths. I want to go my own way, but if I have a career like his, I will hardly be unhappy at the end of my career.”
