Gary Neville has been labelled the 'Prime Minister of football' by Mark Goldbridge.
The former Manchester United defender has come into focus for stating he thinks Newcastle's Anthony Gordon's winning goal against Arsenal in the Magpies' 1-0 win on Saturday was right to stand.
That's despite VAR checking three incidents in the build up to the goal and Mikel Arteta unleashing a furious rant after the game.
«I thought the decision for the Newcastle goal was correct,» the ex-England star wrote on X. «The ball out was inconclusive at best, definitely not a foul for me and if the VAR can’t evidence offside the onfield decision should stand.»
But talkSPORT host and Man United fan Goldbridge was disappointed Neville had not left room for others to challenge his opinion.
«Definitely not a foul...Prime Minister of football has spoken,» Goldbridge replied to Neville on X. «Your opinions mean nothing.»
«Absolutely calling out these flip flop pundits and commentators on the show at 12. Have the receipts ready,» Goldbridge added on X.
Aside from making a dig at Neville's exploits in politics, Goldbridge also explained he felt that his club legend wasn't being consistent with his opinions on VAR incidents, looking back at his view on United conceding a penalty for Rasmus Hojlund's pull on Rodri in the box.
Gordon's goal on Saturday wasn't ruled out despite Joelinton appearing to push Gabriel in the box, and Goldbridge believes Neville has now given two different views on two similar scenarios.
«I'm a little bit disgusted actually,» Goldbridge said on the United Stand. «Last night I watched Newcastle v Arsenal and obviously the officiating was absolutely dreadful.
»Then Gary Neville said the foul on Gabriel from Joelinton was not a foul.
