PSG follow Man United footsteps with multi-million pound stadium plan following Old Trafford claims

PSG president Nasser Al-KhelaIfi has announced the French club will be leaving their current Parc des Princes home, just days after reports emerged that Manchester United were considering a similar move under Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

At a meeting of the UEFA executive committee on Thursday, Al-Khelaifi told delegates his club were looking to move away from the current stadium. As reported by L'Equipe, he added: "It's easier for us now, we know what that we want. It's over for us."

Currently, the Parc des Princes is undergoing redevelopment work but it is believed that will cease immediately with an emergency meeting scheduled to bring forward plans for a new stadium. This decision by PSG comes at the same time as Manchester United contemplate their future.

Following the club's statement last December, speculation has been growing as to what a stadium upgrade will look like at Old Trafford. Ratcliffe has pledged £237m towards improving the infrastructure of the Reds' facilities but the bill is expected to rise into the billions.

This week, reports have suggested Ratcliffe is naturally opposed to the idea of leaving Old Trafford. However, he does think fans would be receptive to a brand-new stadium being built in the vicinity of the current plot.

Many supporters are against these plans and wish to remain at the Theatre of Dreams. The Glazers' preference is to remain at Old Trafford too and improve the current facilities.
