Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti (30) is closing in on a move to Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal.
According to Romano, the deal is at an advanced stage with Al Hilal nearing an agreement with PSG for the Italian international’s transfer. A three-year deal has been offered to Verratti, and the documentation for the move will soon be prepared.
Verratti’s departure would signal the end of an era. The Italian joined from Pescara in 2012 and has become an integral part of Les Parisiens’ midfield over the years. That remained the case last season, despite PSG’s heavy midfield recruitment. This summer, PSG’s midfield has been further strengthened through the arrival of Manuel Ugarte.
Whilst Verratti looks on the verge of a move to the Gulf State, the same can’t be said of teammate Kylian Mbappé (24). PSG accepted Al Hilal’s world-record €300m bid, but according to L’Équipe, the France captain has turned down the move.
Sports Zone and Goal France report that the opening proposal from Al-Hilal was €30m to PSG, whose stated asking price is €80m. Les Parisiens believe that a deal could be found at the €60m mark. Al-Hilal are offering the player more than €20m a year on a 3-year contract.
