The French international winger Moussa Diaby is expected to join Aston Villa from Bayer Leverkusen for €50m plus €10m in bonuses in the coming hours, but it’s a deal that will delight PSG as well as their former coach, Unai Emery.
Now 24, Diaby rejected the chance to move to the Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr (who offered a very similar fee package to the Birmingham club) after leaving Paris for Germany in 2019 for around €15m. However, included in that deal was a clause allowing PSG to recoup 20% of any profit made by Leverkusen on the attacker’s resale.
As a result, confirmed by PSG Culture, Paris can expect around €7m at least from the Frenchman’s switch to England, and the amount could rise to €9m should the €10m in bonuses be met.
The unpredictable winger contributed 49 goals and 48 assists in 172 games across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen over his four years at the Bundesliga club.
