A pub has been praised by customers after it announced its plans for Christmas Day.
The Bootle Arms in Melling, shared a Facebook post detailing its plans for Christmas and its continued aim to make sure no one is alone on the day itself. The pub said it will be putting one table aside for anyone who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.
Its post said: "Christmas time is not the time to be alone nor is it a time to be sad. Every year I put aside a table for a few people that otherwise would be spending the day on their own.

"Do you know someone needing some company? someone vulnerable that shouldn’t be alone in such a wonderful day? Please get them to get in touch with us!! The pub will be warm, fire lit, full of festive cheer and dinner is on me."
Since the post was shared, people have commented and praised staff for their "brilliant" gesture. Nikki Dransfield said: "What a lovely thing to do but you always look after the community."
Helen Williams said: "What a lovely thing to offer, you'll definitely be on Santa's nice list, and I hope you and your family have a wonderful Xmas xx."
Heather Holyland added: "If only the world was full of good people like you."
General manager Grant Pinches, 38, said: “I’ve done this tradition for eight years now. I love Christmas and everything that comes with it, the festivities, the food, the films. A couple of years ago my wife asked what would happen if I had to celebrate alone.
“I started thinking I’d feel really, really down. That’s what gave me the idea to invite people who might otherwise spend Christmas on their own.”
