Join out live blog from the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for El Clasico
Good evening all and welcome to another MARCA in English live blog. Tonight witnesses a blockbuster LaLiga clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, the capital of Spain.
Barcelona enter the game with a chance to give themselves a lifeline in the title race by cutting the gap down to five points, and the chance to avenge their two most recent results against their ancient foes, as Los Blancos have beaten them 4-1, 2-1 and 4-0 in the their last three competitive fixtures.
Barcelona are in good form, having lost one game since January 27 but they will be hurting following a brutal exit to the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), losing the match 4-1 and the two-legged tie 6-4 on aggregate. Whilst for Real Madrid, they arrive to their home turf with a chance to essentially kill off the title race and to get their hands on the LaLiga trophy that was taken from them at the end of the 2022/23 season by Barcelona themselves.
A victory for Carlo Ancelotti's side would see them open up a 12-point gap at the summit of the table and they're in a purple patch too. A defeat to Atletico Madrid in January was the first time Real Madrid had lost since September 2024 and responded by winning 10 and drawing six of their following games.
That includes both of their Champions League quarterfinal matches against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, as Los Blancos won on penalties to progress to the next round with the chance to win the competition for the 15th time.
The most recent game between the pair was the aforementioned 4-1
