Sean Dyche urged his players to respond to Everton’s latest points deduction and inspire the “rise of the Toffees”.
The Blues boss said he, his staff and squad could do little about the off-the-pitch blows that are buffeting the club this season - the latest being the two-point deduction handed out on Monday. That punishment, for breaching Premier League profit and sustainability regulations, was in addition to the six points already taken off Everton this season for a similar offence.
That first punishment, dished out in November, sparked a run of form that saw the Blues win four consecutive games and Dyche has now called on his players to use the latest setback to spark the long-term revival of the club.

Dyche will spend this weekend preparing for the trip to Chelsea on Monday night. It will be Everton’s first match following the second deduction, one that has added further jeopardy to their battle for top-flight survival.
The combined eight point penalty means a club that would otherwise be all but safe is now in the midst of a third consecutive punishing relegation battle. Dyche, who believes the points his players have acquired show progress has been made on those recent campaigns, said he wanted another reaction from his squad.
