Rob Edwards plays down Brentford importance as Luton Town Premier League message sent

Rob Edwards has loved Luton's Premier League adventure and does not want it to end, but insists Saturday's home match with Brentford is not a must-win fixture. The Hatters are 18th in the table and still in with a strong chance of survival this season with five games left.

Relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and Everton are only one and two points ahead of Luton and face each other on Sunday, but Edwards tried to keep a lid on expectations ahead of their own key clash.

«I don't think it is must-win,» he said. «We know it is business time and we must be getting results.»

«We put that pressure on the last home game (against Bournemouth) and we were able to produce a really good performance, a brilliant second-half performance and a win.»

«So we know how important it is. It is not must-win because it doesn't mean we're down if we don't win tomorrow, but we all recognise the importance of it. We know what a win tomorrow means but there is still a long way to go.»

Luton started this campaign with back-to-back three-goal defeats and were tipped by many to be the first club relegated. While the Hatters have only won six times in the Premier League, Edwards has loved his debut season in the top flight.
