Bayern Munich winger Sadio Mané (31) has agreed to join PIF-funded Saudi Arabia outfit Al-Nassr, according to a report this evening from L’Equipe. The Athletic broke the news this Thursday that the Riyadh-based team – for which Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcelo Brozović and Seko Fofana play – had enquired about the Senegalese international. Despite a contract that runs until 2025 with the Bavarian giants, Mané has fallen out of favour with the Bundesliga champions.
Bayern had high hopes for Mané following his €32m switch from Liverpool last year. Mané only logged 12 goals and six assists in 38 games played, although he missed some months of competition due to a serious fibula injury. The 2022 AFCON winner with Senegal also fell out with the club’s board and some of his teammates in the wake of a reported physical altercation with Leroy Sané. Mané’s €300.000 weekly wages were also seen as a burden by Bayern, who were willing to listen to offers for their No. 17.
The French publication understand that the 2019 Champions League winner with Liverpool has given his agreement on principle to join Al-Nassr. The Gulf state club now just needs to find an agreement with their German counterparts regarding the transfer fee.
