Sheikh Jassim net worth after Man Utd takeover miss and Tottenham links
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to pay £1.3billion to buy a 25% share in Manchester United, it has been revealed. Takeover talks between United owners the Glazers and interested parites have been going on for months, and finally there seems to be a settlement, albeit not for a complete takeover as had intiailly been planned.
The UK's richest man, who runs INEOS, initially wnted to buy a controlling stake in United, his boyhood club, but has managed to secure a 25% stake in the Red Devils, subject to ratification at a board meeting. Ratcliffe will take over control of football operations from the Glazers.
Ratcliffe had been challenged all the way by Qatari banker Sheik Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, who has withdrawn his bid. His attention may now turn to Tottenham Hotspur with ESPN journalist Mark Ogden previously stating: «They want the Premier League footprint. Somebody told me recently, they said that if the Qataris don't buy Manchester United, they'll be back and they might end up buying Tottenham.»
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy's stance has always been that the club is not for sale, with Levy telling Bloomberg last month: «I've got no real interest to leave Tottenham, but I have a duty to consider anything that anyone may want to propose.»

Jassim is a member of the Qatari royal family but is far less known than his father, who has been involved in running Paris Saint-Germain after being the former chair of the Qatari Investment Authority that owns the club. Sheikh Jassim has ensured that he is separate to this entirely as UEFA rules dictate that an individual cannot own more than one club in the same competition.
