Fabrizio Romano has reported via Twitter that Southampton’s Ghanaian international defender is on the verge of completing his transfer to Ligue 1 side Marseille.
The 24-year-old centre-back is being drafted into the side as a replacement for outgoing French World Cup defender Axel Disasi, who is expected to complete a €45m move to Chelsea in the coming days.
Monaco will make €30m across the two moves, as Salisu’s transfer fee is as low as €15m, reports Romano. The defender had joined Southampton, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, for €12m from Spanish club Real Valladolid back in August 2020, when the player also received significant interest from Rennes.
Salisu, who tallied 80 appearances for The Saints across three seasons, which included just one goal and one assist, will complete his medical in the Principality today ahead of the transfer’s scheduled finalisation as Disasi moves to London.
