Stellenbosch FC have continued to add to their squad ahead of the new season with the acquisition of teenage Ghanaian defender Prince Amponsah.
The 18-year-old centre-back has had an extensive trial at the club having emerged at third-tier Ubuntu Cape Town. He went with the Stellies Under-21 team to the NextGen in India.
“We are massively excited with the signing of Prince and his addition to our squad,” head coach Steve Barker said. “He is a young player with huge potential.
“He has immense ability with the ball at his feet, a great passing range, and is all-round a really good defender, so we are excited to see him grow and develop with us at the club.”
Amponsah is the sixth confirmed signing for the Winelands club this transfer window along with Oscarine Masuluke (Baroka FC), Thabo Moloisane (Maritzburg United), Basil Mphahlele (Baroka FC), Genino Palace (Maritzburg United), Olivier Traore (Marumo Gallants).
Barker’s men open their season at home to Orlando Pirates on Saturday evening.
