Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports this afternoon that Strasbourg are set to beat Lazio to the signing of young Russian international midfielder Arsen Zakharyan from Dynamo Moscow.
Having previously been in the race to sign Zakharyan, the Biancocelesti have now moved on to another target, namely Samuele Ricci of Torino.
The 20-year-old would become the Alsatians’ fourth signing of the summer, after the arrivals of Dutch forwardEmanuel Emegha from Sturm Graz, Ivorian defender Abakar Sylla from Club Brugge, and Jessy Deminguet from Caen.
After the takeover by BlueCo – the consortium that bought Chelsea last year – Strasbourg are looking to conduct an ambitious recruitment campaign, after bringing in Patrick Vieira as the club’s new head coach.
According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea had been interested in signing the Dynamo Moscow man for over a year – but were prevented from doing as they are not able to transfer money to Russia, following the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
Zakharyan, who has scored 18 goals and registered 25 assists with his formative club, is entering the final year of his contract and is keen to move on. Talks are underway between Strasbourg and the Russian club – who have asked for €15m – and are looking favourable for the Ligue 1 side
