Stuart Pearce makes surprise Premier League title prediction as Man City and Arsenal snubbed
Stuart Pearce believes Newcastle United will win the Premier League this season. Arsenal pushed Manchester City hard throughout the 2022/23 campaign, with Mikel Arteta's side topping the league for a number of months.
However, the Gunners somewhat collapsed in the final weeks of the season and City managed to secure their third title in as many years. Both the Gunners and the Cityzens will be hoping for another exciting title race this season, although both sides will have to be wary of the many teams who have strengthened over the summer.
Chelsea have brought in the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, while Manchester United have signed Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.
Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboslai and Wataru Endo have joined Liverpool as the Reds look to get back to winning ways, while Newcastle have brought in Harvey Barnes and Sandro Tonali as they look to build on their fourth place finish last season.
Interestingly, despite many bookies tipping Man City and Arsenal to be the main title challengers once again, former England defender Pearce believes the Magpies could have what it takes to win the league this season. Rejuvenated under Eddie Howe, Newcastle certainly will pose problems for many teams this campaign but it remains to be seen if they can balance Champions League football with league action.
