The Rocky Horror Show coming to Liverpool with audience urged to dress up

Richard O’Brien’s “legendary” rock ‘n’ roll musical The Rocky Horror Show is coming to Liverpool.

The musical follows college kids Brad and his fiancée Janet who find themselves stranded on a stormy night after their car gets a flat tyre. The couple experience strange incidents when they seek shelter in a nearby castle belonging to Frank-N-Furter, an “eccentric transvestite”.

The show is set to tour all over the UK once again and will be making a pit stop at the Playhouse Theatre for over a month during the Christmas season.

The cast, which is yet to be announced, is said to be “bringing their biggest party yet to audiences across the country” in the upcoming tour. Directed by Christopher Luscombe, it will feature all of the much-loved musical numbers including Sweet Transvestite, Dammit Janet and The Time-Warp.

The Rocky Horror Show is described as a “guaranteed party, which famously combines science-fiction, horror, comedy and music while encouraging audience participation - meaning, of course, getting dressed up in the most outrageous fancy dress”.

The show will be coming to the Liverpool Playhouse on Tuesday, December 3 2024, until Saturday, January 4 2025.

The same production came to the Liverpool Empire in 2022. ECHO journalist Elle May Rice gave it four stars and said it had the audience “on its feet and dancing away”.
