Three Olympique de Marseille players were the victims of an attempted car-jacking as they returned to Marseille early this morning after their 2-1 victory over Le Havre AC on the final day of the season.
According to La Provence , Jean Onana (24), Faris Moumbagna (23), and Bamo Meïté (22) were in a convoy of vehicles travelling from the club’s training centre when they were targeted by criminals intent on stealing their cars.
The Marseille players were shot at as they escaped their attackers and fortunately, none of them were injured during the attack. There were two bullet holes in the driver’s side door of one of the cars, while another car was hit in the trunk.
The police are reportedly still looking for the perpetrators who managed to flee the scene, while Marseille’s prosecution has entrusted the DCOS (organised and specialised crime division) to begin an investigation into this morning’s events.
