Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has issued a message to the club's supporters ahead of their Premier League clash against Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues owner has had a mixed relationship with fans since taking over the club in May 2022. After the horrendous start to his reign over the club which saw Chelsea's worst league finish for almost 30 years, in which three different managers came and went, it appeared as though Boehly had his work cut out for him in England.
Following in the footsteps of one of the most beloved — and most-winning — owners in world football is no easy feat, but to do it in the manner of which Roman Abramovich's 'forced' sale of the club came about has made it especially difficult. Despite many arguing against his project which has seen young players arriving over three transfer windows in big-money deals, and his insistence on using a US-style contract system that has meant stars signing on for up to eight-and-a-half-years, the future is still bright.
Mauricio Pochettino looks like a big step in the right direction for the club as the Blues try and get back on track. Of course, a rough start to the campaign has seen Chelsea struggle to consistently stay in the top half of the Premier League but recent results against Tottenham and Manchester City have proven there is potential in this squad.
They're also through to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals, a far cry from their third round exit last season under Graham Potter. Unfortunately though, there are still going to be growing pains — something no more shown in the embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United last weekend.
