Tom Davies is set to sign for Sheffield United following his Everton exit earlier this summer.
The midfielder has been without a club since deciding to reject the offer of a new contract at Everton in favour of seeking regular first-team football back in June. Davies did not start a match last season under Sean Dyche.
And now the ECHO understands that after holding talks with the Blades, Davies is set to sign for the Bramall Lane club, with an official announcement possibly coming as early as today.
Davies joined Everton at the age of 11 and became the youngest captain in the club’s history at 20 years and 60 days. He went on to make 179 appearances, scoring seven goals, during his time at Goodison Park.

Speaking about Davies' departure, Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell said: "We offered Tom a new contract, but he feels he has reached the stage in his career where he needs regular first-team football. As a result, he wants to look at alternative options away from Everton.
“As a lifelong Evertonian and proud Scouser, Tom has always given everything for the club. We respect his decision and thank him for his service and commitment. Everyone at Everton wishes him the very best for the future.”
The England youth international spent the summer training with Joey Barton at League One Bristol Rovers in order to maintain his fitness and was linked with moves to France, Italy and Saudi Arabia before agreeing to join the Blades.
