Yesterday, the Nexusmods team put out a detailed update regarding what's going on behind the scenes. As many modders had expected, it is indeed from a surge of Fallout players.

According to Nexusmods, with the bandwidth needed for this huge amount of data transfer, you can download "the entire Skyrim SE game twice every second for several days."
