Uefa President Aleksander Čeferin has given his support to FAI proposals to the Irish government on the funding of facilities for Irish football.
Ahead of next month's Europa League final, which will be played at the Aviva Stadium, FAI president Paul Cooke outlined the association's Facility Investment Vision and Strategy for Irish Football to Čeferin at a Uefa headquarters meeting in Nyon.
“It was my pleasure to welcome the new FAI President to UEFA last week,” said Čeferin.
“We held a very productive meeting where we discussed the ongoing need for investment into facilities and academies and the FAI proposals in their strategy document which we fully endorse here at Uefa.
"I look forward to discussing these proposals with political leaders on the occasion of the UEFA Europa League Final in Dublin.”
Cooke thanked Čeferin for his support.
"Uefa have been loyal supporters of Irish football and the FAI, and we look forward to introducing President Čeferin to our government leaders next month when we will discuss how we can all work together to improve Irish football for all our players and stakeholders," said Cooke.
