Underdogs vs 14-time champions: Dortmund ready to take on Madrid at Wembley
Real Madrid booked their ticket to the 2023/24 Champions League final at Wembley on 1st June after beating Bayern Munich 2-1 in the second leg of the semi-final, which was played at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Wednesday.
The 14-time Champions League winners will face underdogs Borussia Dortmund, who are the surprise package of the season in Europe, in London. Edin Terzic's men managed to emerge victorious from one of the toughest - if not the toughest - groups in the group stage, where they played top teams such as PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle.
Not only that but they have also succeeded in beating the French giants - again - and Atletico Madrid to reach their first Champions League final in 11 years.
The Bundesliga side celebrated their progress to the final amid revelry after beating Luis Enrique's side 1-0 at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday as Kylian Mbappe was expected to help his side win their prized Champions League trophy in his final season after being heavily rumoured with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid in the summer.
Meanwhile, Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti's men are euphoric and eager to lift their 15th trophy in Europe's top competition. The La Liga players will have their work cut out if they are to win at Wembley against a Dortmund side who have shown their claws at continental level.
The final at Wembley will have great emotional value for England star Jude Bellingham, who is having a sensational season in La Liga. The England midfielder will face his former team in a crucial match on home soil.
