Chelsea are not expecting to sell many players at all in the January transfer window, football.london understands. However, there is the possibility of one or two players being loaned out.
After a summer transfer window that saw 23 players either move on permanent or loan deals from Stamford Bridge, the club are now seemingly content with the squad they have at their disposal. There is, however, the possibility of additions in the January transfer window with the club wanting to sign a new centre-forward option as a priority.
As revealed last week, Chelsea are strongly considering making an offer to Brentford for striker Ivan Toney. The 27-year-old is due back from his eight-month ban at the start of 2024 and is on the lookout for a new club, football.london understands, with the Blues and Arsenal both interested in his services.
Victor Osimhen is also on the club's radar. The Nigeria international is very much in demand and could leave Napoli in January after the Italian club rejected big-money offers for the striker over the summer.
Nicolas Jackson, though, is still very highly rated at the club. But senior officials believe adding a new striker for more competition will improve Jackson in the long-term and there will not be an over-reliance on the 22-year-old to score goals.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are expected to see the season out with Robert Sanchez and make a decision on the goalkeeper in the summer of 2024. The Blues signed the Spaniard from Brighton in the summer and he has since become the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge and while other players in that position are still of interest to the club, Sanchez is set to be handed the season to prove himself.
