Bradley Barcola (21) has placed himself at the centre of a storm with his formative club Olympique Lyonnais after the academy graduate taunted his former team in their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
The winger had developed in the famed Lyon academy but moved last summer to their rivals in the capital after a breakthrough season with Les Gones . Barcolas has carried on his startingly progression and has cemented his place in Luis Enrique’s plans.
His departure from the club was met with great resistance from the Lyon fans upset to see a player who had joined the team as a child be carted off to the team that had ended their unprecedented dominance in France. And it was unfortunate timing that Barcola’s debut for PSG came away at Lyon in September during a 4-1 defeat for the home side.
Barcola was booed relentlessly during the warmup, his name announcement, and his eventual entrance onto the pitch. This bad feeling was reciprocated by the player as PSG once again defeated Lyon by the same scoreline. Barcola had an inspired performance and was keen to celebrate in front of the away fans as the second goal was fired home.
