Harry Kane has described Bayern Munich’s win over Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals as «unbelievable» after a tight game against the Gunners.
A Joshua Kimmich header was enough to split the sides in the second leg after a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg last week. Former Spurs star Kane netted a penalty in the reverse fixture and played the full 90 minutes in the second leg at the Allianz Arena.
Speaking after the match, the England captain said that he anticipated a close contest in Germany and was pleased with how his side performed given the intensity of the match. «Unbelievable win,” Kane said.
“It's been a tough season for us. We've had to fight and really grind at times, and today was that. We knew it was going to be a tough game. We knew at home we could make the difference with our fans there. It was what we expected — a tough game, a tight game.
“It was a great goal from Josh to make the difference for us and then it was about defending and keeping that clean sheet. To reach the semi-final is a great achievement for us and we can enjoy this one.»
Bayern keep their hopes of a trophy this season alive while Arsenal can only now win the Premier League. They will feel disappointed with a tepid performance that did not reflect their season so far.
