Arsenal will be looking to add to their squad after narrowly missing out on the Premier League title, with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak being linked with the Gunners.
A new striker has been on Arsenal's wishlist for some time, with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko being linked with a move to north London. But, after another impressive season in the Premier League, Isak could be the best of the bunch.
The Swedish striker grabbed 21 goals and two assists in 30 games this season, ending the campaign as the Premier League's third top scorer. The 24-year-old won't come cheap however, with the striker having joined Newcastle just two years ago for £58million.
So, if Arsenal signed Isak in the summer transfer window, could he prove to be Arteta's missing piece? Let's take a look.
To set up this simulation, we used Football Manager 2024 to move Isak to Arsenal in the summer transfer window before simulating the 2024/25 season. This is how the Newcastle striker performed for the Gunners.
In his first season with the Gunners, Arteta instantly made Isak his first-choice striker, with the Swede making 49 appearances across all competitions. Impressively, Isak improved his goal tally at Arsenal, scoring 28 goals across all competitions and ending the campaign as the club's top scorer.
The 24-year-old scored three more than Bukayo Saka, with the winger grabbing 25 goals and 10 assists as he ended the campaign with the best average rating per 90 at the club. Gabriel Martinelli was also back to his best with 15 league goals, though Gabriel Jesus struggled, with the Brazilian only starting 18 games all season.
