According to The Times, the Dutchman will have slightly different responsibilities than his predecessor, with the 45-year-old set for the role of ‘head coach’ rather than ‘manager’. He will nevertheless be required to get the buy-in of his players as Klopp has done throughout his tenure.

A number of figures have already been asked about their thoughts of working under a new Liverpool boss for the first time, with some speaking directly about Slot himself. Virgil van Dijk has just 12 months left on his contract and questions linger over his future.
The captain at this stage, like Mohamed Salah, is expected to stay on for the season and see how things progress under countryman Slot. "I find it difficult to answer it now, of course… but I think Arne Slot might be one of the better Dutch coaches at this moment,” Van Dijk told Viaplay last week, insisting that such focus remains on the run-in.
"I think the way he plays and the philosophy he has that he could be a Liverpool coach. Only in my opinion, what I also read and hear, of course, is that it is far from finalised. We will see. Next year we will focus on that."
