The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) announced on Monday which of the 14 NFL and MLS stadiums that will host the Copa America 2024, to be played between June 20 and July 14, 2024. According to the Organizing Committee, each venue will host an average of two to three matches.
The inaugural game will be played in Atlanta
The venues were divided into three regions: East, Central, and West to host the10 countries that make up Conmebol and six Concacaf representatives, including the reigning champions of both confederations, Argentina and Mexico, respectively, in a format similar to that of the 2016 Centenario Gold Cup.
This will be the second time that the tournament will be held outside South and Central America and formally opened to the entire continent since in the 1990s two Concacaf countries participated recurrently but as guests.
Until last week, CONMEBOL had confirmed that the opening match will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, home of the Atlanta Falcons. The final will be played at the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins inMiami Gardens, Florida.
