With Euro 2024 and the 2024 Copa América on the horizon, the timing and venue - Australia - of the game has been criticised.
Pre-season friendlies have been a staple of the soccer diet for as long as we can remember, but Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are playing a lesser-spotted end-of-season friendly on Wednesday (22 May), only three days after the end of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.
