Youssef Chermiti will be available to feature for Everton against West Ham United on Saturday despite his two-goal display for the club’s Under-21s being marred by a late sending off.
The 19-year-old striker netted twice for the Blues’ second string in their 3-1 comeback win over their Fulham counterparts in the Premier League International Cup quarter-finals at Walton Hall Park on Monday. A volleyed effort from Callum Osmand put the visitors in front after 22 minutes but Michael Keane restored parity in the first minute of the second half with a header from a corner-kick.
Chermiti fired Everton ahead from the penalty spot on 70 minutes after Charlie Whitaker was upended and then bagged a brace seven minutes later when his powerful shot proved too hot for goalkeeper Alex Borto to handle. However, Whitaker was dismissed with six minutes to go when he was shown a second yellow card for tossing the ball away and Chermiti then picked up a second booking of his own some three minutes into additional time for kicking the ball away, ensuring Paul Tait’s side finished the game with just nine men.

The ECHO understands that Everton – who join PSV Eindhoven, West Ham United and Crystal Palace in the last four of the competition – will be without both Chermiti and Whitaker for their semi-final but players who are sent off in Premier League International Cup matches only serve a suspension in that competition.
