Inconsistency in the league and the prospect of a takeover for AS Monaco have placed Adi Hütter’s position as manager under increased pressure.
Despite a strong start to the league campaign which saw them in first place after two-game weeks, results and performances have begun to deteriorate under the summer appointment, and the club have now slipped out of the Champions League positions.
Monaco have only managed to secure thirteen points in their last nine games in the league, and according to L’Équipe, this has left some in the hierarchy questioning whether their manager is the right figure to lead this project.
Only two points away from OGC Nice in second, and through to the round of 16 in the Coupe de France, where Monaco will face a favourable tie against FC Rouen, does not spell disaster for Hütter.
Especially when the manager is operating without a significant number of his first-team squad, Caio Henrique (26) has suffered a long-term injury and may not feature again this season, while six players are absent due to the ongoing African Cup of Nations and AFC Asian Cup.
However, this year offered a unique opportunity to Monaco, the slow start from RC Lens and Olympique de Marseille, provided a chance to place Les Monégasques firmly in control of the Champions League places. And, as reported by L’Équipe , the decision-makers at the club are said to believe that this chance has been wasted through the inconsistent and irregular showings from the team.
Hütter’s side have lost three times in their last six games in the league, and the victories recorded in this period have done little to alleviate concerns within the club, as performances lacked some of the edge that had won plaudits at the start of the season.
