Pedro Porro has issued a positive Tottenham update on the injury that saw him miss last weekend's Premier League defeat to Wolves. Just as Ange Postecoglou looked set to name his strongest starting XI for the first time in four months, a double injury blow emerged for the Tottenham boss.
Ahead of the clash against Wolves, an open training session was held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Porro and Destiny Udogie, who came off in the previous game, surprisingly absent. The following day Postecoglou explained why they missed the session, before confirming roughly how long the duo would miss.
«We’ve had a couple of setbacks this week,» he admitted in a press conference. "Destiny [Udogie] obviously picked up a little bit of a knock last week. Not available for tomorrow, don’t think it is anything too serious. With no game next weekend, he should be back. Pedro [Porro] picked up a strain at training. Again, probably a couple of weeks for him. With the game break hopefully he doesn’t miss too many."
Ben Davies and Emerson Royal started at full-back in place of the influential pair with it clear in the game how important they are to Postecoglou's system. Thankfully for Spurs, given the latest injury concerns, this weekend's game against Chelsea has been postponed with the Blues participating in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley against Liverpool.
Crystal Palace, with new manager Oliver Glasner at the helm, are up next for the Lilywhites with that clash at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium set for the beginning of March. In recent months, a number of injured players have returned way before Postecoglou's set date with Rodrigo Bentancur's comeback from an ankle injury coming in December as opposed to February.
