French international Moussa Diaby has inevitably been the subject of interest from across the continent this summer after another impressive campaign with Bayer Leverkusen – but the winger could also become the latest major player to move to Saudi Arabia, as part of the Gulf state’s lucrative offensive on European football this summer.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr had emerged as a potential destination for the former Paris Saint-Germain man last week, while the Bundesliga side had already turned down an offer from Aston Villa.
According to RMC Sport this afternoon, the Riyadh-based side have put forward their first proposal, worth €38m plus €5m in bonuses. Bayer Leverkusen have yet to respond, but the offer is less than the one the Premier League side presented – €40m plus €7m.
Diaby, who scored 14 goals in all competitions last season, has also seen Napoli register their interest, with the Serie A champions enquiring about his availability – although the Azzurri have yet to submit a formal offer.
