Picking the name of your child is probably one of the biggest decisions a parent can make. All the upcoming mothers and fathers may be looking online for inspiration, and while names like Emma, Olivia and Noah are the top baby names of the year so far, there are some that are probably worth avoiding.
According to the parenting advice site Babycentre, there are 40 names that have been deemed at risk of going extinct, as they saw a strong decline in use in 2022 and 2023.

While some of them are names you would hear quite often, such as Kiera and Drew, others are more unusual.
At number one for the most ‘endangered’ boys’ names for 2024 is Keanu, who many may associate with popular actor Keanu Reeves. For girls, it appears that Flo – a shortened spelling of Florence – has dropped in use most.
