Impressed Rangers hero Ally McCoist admits he's backing Philippe Clement but believes success in the transfer market will define the Ibrox boss' reign.
The club legend dished out his first report card for the Belgian and McCoist believes the former Monaco manager is feeling the effects of a misfiring summer transfer window under Michael Beale. Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers and Jose Cifuentes have all struggled mightily since their arrival. And now McCoist believes Clement must be backed in the market after to give his Ibrox revamp a jolt.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the Rangers legend said: "The problem, or one of the problems, like a lot of managers have at a new club, is he is going to have to get a window or two to get his own players in because the previous window, I think, there were three or four players brought in who, at this moment in time, look very much short.
"You can't judge a manager until he has got his own players on the pitch. It might be a couple of windows before that materialises. I have been quite impressed with the manager, he has had a solid enough start, seven-and-a-half out of 10."
Clement remains undefeated as Rangers boss and is aiming to finish 2023 in style with crunch away trips to Hearts, Real Betis and Celtic plus the Viaplay Cup Final against Aberdeen is set to define their season.
