Pedri picks out Premier League forward as dream Robert Lewandowski replacement
In years gone by, Barcelona had been able to pluck the best players from across Europe with ease. However, due to their ongoing financial problems, this is no longer possible, with the club’s sporting department now having to be very careful with how money is being spent on new signings.
During an interview with streamer Ibai Llanos, Pedri was open about some of the players he admired most. As he has before, Pedri stated that his idol was Andres Iniesta, but also admitted that Guti was one of his favourite players, and that Girona captain Aleix Garcia is in his fantasy team, as are Barcelona goalkeeper Inaki Pena, Valencia midfielder Pepelu and Athletic Club striker Gorka Guruzeta.
As was Robert Lewandowski, but Pedri was asked if he could sign one player in the world for Barcelona, then it would Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
“For Barca I would sign Haaland. He’s a cyborg. He scores a lot of goals. Lewandowski is not going to last until he is 60. Julian Alvarez is also playing very well, ‘the spider’, he’s a very good player.”
Barcelona have recently brought Vitor Roque to the club, with the teenage Brazilian expected to be Lewandowski’s long-term successor. However, there could be substance to Pedri’s thoughts behind another striker being required, although one thing for certain is that Haaland is unaffordable right now.
