Newcastle's move to sign Manchester City youngster Alfie Harrison could end up totalling around £3.5million.
The 18-year-old hasn't featured for Pep Guardiola's first team but has impressed for the academy sides.
And Newcastle stole a march on others to finalise a deal for Harrison.
The initial fee is thought to be lower than the £3.5m, which is dependent on the triggering of clauses. City have also inserted a sell-on percentage.
Harrison has drawn comparisons to City's star striker Erling Haaland for his appearance, with the midfielder also posting impressive numbers when it comes to goals and assists for the club's youth sides.
Newcastle's head of youth recruitment Paul Midgely, who left Man City for the Magpies in 2022, is thought to have played a key role on the deal to bring Harrison to Tyneside.
