Ange Postecoglou will have his fingers crossed that he doesn't have to do without any of his key Tottenham players in what remains of the season. Having now played 30 games of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign following Tuesday evening's 1-1 draw with West Ham, the Lilywhites have eight games remaining in the calendar as they look to secure a Champions League finish.
As things stand, Tottenham are fifth in the table and two points behind Aston Villa in fourth. However, the north London club do still have a game in hand to play against Chelsea and that could prove key to how the Premier League table looks come the final day.
Hit hard by injuries at various times since August, Postecoglou has also had to contend with a number of player suspensions. Yves Bissouma missed a good chunk of football having had to serve a one-match ban for a red card at Luton Town, a one-match ban for collecting five yellow cards in the team's first 19 Premier League games and then a four-match suspension following his second dismissal of the season at Nottingham Forest.
Cristian Romero then also missed three matches as a result of his red card against Chelsea in November, with Destiny Udogie also sent off in that showdown and absent for one game after receiving two yellow cards against the west London club. The Italian left-back then missed a further game the following month after picking up five yellow cards before the 19th game cut-off point and the same happened to Dejan Kulusevski.
Another cut-off point for accumulating yellow cards is now fast approaching. As per Premier League rules, any player earning 10 bookings from his side's first 32 Premier League matches will serve a two-match ban in the same competition.
