Annan boss accuses Queen of the South gaffer of being "disrespectful" and "unprofessional" after derby defeat

Angry Annan boss Peter Murphy accused Queens rival Marvin Bartley of being “disrespectful” and “unprofessional” in an amazing outburst after their 2-1 derby day defeat.

The clubs clashed in a fiercely fought encounter at Palmerston which saw Annan’s former Queens player Tommy Goss sent off in the stoppage time and Bartley booked for shouting at the player and directing comments at the Galabankies bench.

Murphy said: “He was being very disrespectful to Tommy Goss shouting abuse at him coming off.

“The linesman stepped in and he had a go at my staff on the bench telling them to be quiet and I thought it was very unprofessional of him.”

Murphy also blasted his own player for being red carded in stoppage time after being booked earlier in the match.

He added: “I think it was a stupid decision for Tommy to make especially in the manner in which he gets the first yellow card.

“He was right in the referee’s face (for the second) and it gives the ref an easy decision for the card.

“Stupid decision to go in for the sliding tackle for the first one.

“Then the fact he shouts at the ref for the bang he gets in the box from Efe Ambrose for the second one. The players were perfectly within their rights to shout for a penalty.

“Ambrose has not gone for the ball but it was a clever one from him.

“Was it a penalty? We would be clutching at straws for arguing for a penalty.

“The one on Wullie Gibson was a ridiculous tackle. A really bad one. He ends up five or six feet in the air and nursing an injury. I thought that was a wreckless challenge. It is a wet day and these challenges are going to be made.”

Queens chief Bartley played down the incident and said: “The tackle I thought was bad (on Cammy Logan) and he got a second booking.
