Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has admitted he was disappointed by Arne Slot's transparency about wanting the Liverpool job and believes that his comments "lacked a little bit of class" toward Feyenoord.
The 45-year-old Dutchman is set to be appointed as Jurgen Klopp's successor at Anfield after Liverpool agreed a compensation package of roughly £9m with the Eredivisie side last month. Slot emerged as the preferred candidate to take over after Xabi Alonso announced he would be staying put with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in March.
But even though Liverpool or Feyenoord are yet to officially announce a deal, Slot has used his recent press conferences to make no secret of his desire to seal a move to Anfield and last month insisted he was "confident" an agreement would be reached between all parties. That is despite Feyenoord still being in with a shot of winning this year's Eredivisie.

And Warnock, who made over 50 appearances for Liverpool before leaving for Blackburn Rovers in 2007, believes Slot should have remained tight-lipped on his future in Holland until the end of the season - but also appreciates that the Dutchman is clearly "very, very excited" about the prospect of landing such a huge job so early in his managerial career.
"From what I've seen so far of him from his interviews, it feels like he's got that big personality," Warnock told Dazn. "The big thing is, is that you're following one of the biggest personalities in football, but you've got to still be your own person - and I think he is.
