Besiktas have reportedly 'first contact' in their attempts to sign Arsenal midfielder Jorginho in the January transfer window, according to reports.
Jorginho, 32, signed for the Gunners from London rivals Chelsea at the start of 2023 for £12million. The Italy international signed a 18-month contract meaning he is set to become available on a free transfer in the summer.
The playmaker has made 36 appearances for Arsenal, scoring once and producing another two assists. His time at the Emirates Stadium has mainly been off the bench with Declan Rice's club-record arrival in the summer restricting him to only 10 starts this campaign.
Arsenal do have the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months, but a decision is yet to be made. Having expressed a desire to return to Italy before the end of his career, Jorginho is now being linked with a move to Turkey.
According to journalist Sercan Dikme, Besiktas are keeping tabs on the former Napoli man's situation in north London after being recommended the midfielder by his agent.
Dikme has claimed that 'first contact has been made' over a potential deal for Jorginho. Arsenal's financial limitations mean they are unable to spend big on a new midfielder meaning sourcing a replacement for Jorginho would prove difficult.

A move for midfield target Martin Zubimendi is highly unlikely this month, football.london understands. The Spain international is viewed as a long-term solution in the defensive midfield position and his £52million release clause could be enough to prise him away from Real Sociedad.
