Barcelona could be about to hand Arsenal a welcome transfer boost in their reported pursuit of Martin Zubimendi.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Real Sociedad midfielder in recent weeks. Football.london understands that Arsenal began tracking Zubimendi ahead of the January transfer window.
Despite the interest, Zubimendi remained in Spain and is set to spend the remainder of the campaign with Real. Barcelona and Liverpool have also been credited an interest in signing the 25-year-old, who is reported to have a £51 million (€60 million) release clause in his contract.
Barcelona are the club who have been suggested to be the most likely to compete with Arsenal for the signing of Zubimendi. Now, though, a report has emerged of an update that could hand a major boost to the Gunners.
According to Spanish news outlet Sport, Barcelona sporting director Deco has made contact with Everton over a move for Amadou Onana.
It has been claimed that the purpose of the communication was for Deco to find out the price tag Everton would demand to part ways with Onana.
